Oint Task Force Sulu spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Gerard Monfort confirmed that Nanz Sawadjaan was one of five suicide bombers monitored by the Armed Forces of the Philippines.

Sawadjaan was killed by the 41st Infrantry Batallion in a Sulu encounter on Tuesday.

He was also the nephew of ASG sub-leader Hatib Hajan Sawadjaan who had earlier been his brother.

According to military reports, Nanz is just waiting for his command to carry out a suicide bombing mission in Sulu.

Two other suicide bombers monitored by the AFP remain in Sulu.

Government forces killed Abu Sayyaf leader Hatib Hajan Sawadjaan's brother in an encounter in Patikul, Sulu.

According to the military, they were conducting operations at Sitio Tubig Pansol in Barangay Langhub when 40 ASG members, including several ISIS bandits, were confronted.

The encounter lasted for 20 minutes.

Two soldiers were wounded in the fire.

According to Western Mindanao Command Lt. Gen. Cirilito Sobejana, their forces are determined to pursue the terrorists in Sulu.

Meanwhile, Hatib's brother was identified as Nanz Sawadjaan.

Nanz was the mastermind in a mass shooting at a church in Sulu in January that killed 22 people and injured more than 100 individuals.
